What a phenomenal performance !! This ghazal has been sung in the HIndustani Classical Raga "Kafi". By the way, please disregard all the Shia/Sunni/Indian/Pakistani nonsense and just enjoy Nayyara ji's beautiful voice... that is the most important thing. All the best to music lovers everywhere...

I am quite sure the Ghazal was written by Behzad Lakhnavi. His son retired from Radio Pakistan as a news reader in the 80's.

I read his story when I was in school and no doubt a brave soldier. Never knew he liked this ghazal and maybe it was this ghazal that inspired him. May Allah grant him Jannat
