I love Bryn and his rendition of this is uniquely his own. His voice is so rich and you can hear his personality come through his singing. I think I've watched this video like, five times in the past two days, which may or may not be good, but thanks for putting it on here all the same!

Dear VinylToVideo,

That's kind of harsh, don't you think?

I agree Pinza set the bar so high no one has ever matched it.

But in fairness to Terfel, I think he acquits himself quite nicely. I would rank him second behind Pinza on this song.

Trow him behind Merrill, Tozzi, and Siepi perhaps.

I like all of them too.

I think Tozzi did a better job than Siepi on this particular number.

I'm sure you know he dubbed Rossano Brazzi's singing voice in the film version.

Dear Agorante,

Thanks for the interesting technical insights.

I always enjoy reading about method related matters. Especially already having listened to every rendition by the singers you mentioned.

Some Enchanted Evening is such a great song. An unforgettable melody. Wonderfully evocative lyrics.

No wonder so many opera stars are willing to sing this show tune and don't consider it "beneath them."

Holy crap that was amazing. That smile at the end made me chuckle though.

this is a promo video from "Something Wonderful" - Bryn singing R & H CD. the most amazing version of "Surrey with the Fringe On Top" - stunning. I was lucky enough to see him as Sweeney Todd and saw him often in the early 90's at the Lyric Opera in Chicago. He canceled the Ring cycle in London a few years ago because his little kid had a difficult broken finger, and Bryn chose to be with his family while the finger was re-broken and set. He got slammed in the press for it, but I say, Go Bryn!

Polytes1: Bryn was younger than Hvorostovsky in the memorable Cardiff Singer of the World when i first saw him in the late 80s. Anyway, for something similar i like his Oh What a Beautiful Morning here on youtube too, well others too..seek and ye shall find
