i wasn't going to say anything until i saw you were making money off your cat. i doubt the cat's attitude during recording was anything like how the editing made it look. not that he didn't like it but, without you backing chords, it would just be a cat pressing a key repeatedly. You play according to what notes the cat happens to be sitting at, not the other way around. The would be impressive, that would justify you using your cat to make money

My young male cat has recently done the same thing. Same scenario as well: I am a piano teacher, and he jumped up in my lap while I was teaching and started playing. He definitely would play a key in response to my student playing a key. It was almost like he was playing to demonstrate to the student what note to play!!! But of course, cats (other animals as well) are clever: another cat I had would walk through the house "calling" my daughter's name - 3 distinct syllables for "Jennifer".

Psychoacoustics is the study of the way human perceive sounds. Close study has shown that human physiology and psychology do make the way we hear things unique to us. But who's to say that cats can't still hear the patterns and ratios we put into music? Regardless, I always find it funny the way cats will stare into the distance at nothing but twist their ears all around as if they are watching the world with their sensitive hearing they way humans do with their eyes.
