He's not saying anything about wishing for himself to be or ever be an autocrat. His words are being twisted. I don't support John McCain whatsoever, but when people are twisting what other people are saying, I'll call them on it.

What McCain meant by "dictator" was that he would be the one WRITING the bill, therefore making him the DICTATOR of how it was worded. This is much different to assuming he wishes to have totalitarian power. This is a single bill which he is disagreeing with publicly.

To the dumbass who posted this video:

His "admission" at :35 wasn't referring to the his analogy of him being dictator...

It was referring to his solution of increasing the FDIC-ensured deposits and working with the other party to solve the situation, which he states at :45.

I'm not stating that I agree with McCain. I'm simply stating that the idiot who posted this video is trying to twist McCain's words around.

If you're going to attack something, attack something legitimate.

I think it's obvious that he's not serious- he just used that as a hypothetical situation. "If I were president, i'd...", only he used 'dictator' instead, because even if he were president the gridlock would still occur.

This is just some of McCain's dry sarcasm.

He didn't mean dictator as in tyrant, he meant dictator as in one who dictates or writes bills. He wanted to draft a bill not take over the country.
