Great song. Always knew what it was about, but never really understood all the symbolism and allegorical history until I did a presentation on the song for a music class. I knew he was a great singer, but that amazed me how he can write.

Buddy Holly (22), Richie Valens, (17) The Big Bopper, (?) and the 21 year old pilot died in a plane crash taking off in the middle of a snow storm from Clear Lake, Iowa from a gig they played at the Surf Ballroom. Their tour bus broke down and they wanted to get needed rest and do their dirty laundry! This was 51 year ago yesterday! Great Cover & Video!

The name America Pie comes from the plane that Holly, Vallens, and Richardson crashed in.
