cage has alot of material and popular conception is usually off base -the reality is he could be a minimalist 'some 'of the time-and some of the time not!!-as for being a punker rock well being an anarchist is damn close to punk in a way-just a more mature way in my opinion..usually opinions of others are based on little info-or the person commenting has an all or nothing mentality and reality often doesnt work that way
Cage wasn't a minimalist in any way shape or form. I think a driving rhythm does a disservice to the original music, and with the constant repetition that wonderful wandering, expanding nature of the original piece is lost. Of course, this is an entirely different genre; it is cool that he would base a song on music from a piece of Cage's.
