I'm a conservative Christian ACORN member and I can confirm the charges against it are overblown.

We did not commit voter fraud. There is no shred of evidence to this false allegation. The opinion polling numbers were evenly matched with the actual voter roll numbers.

Just wanted to put the anti-ACORN smear/myth to rest.

So, whas this the guy registered by ACORN as Jive Turkey, Mickey Mouse or Tony Romo?

Well, if you believe the right-wing noise machine, it was all three.

But the reality is that ACORN's overall rate of "suspicious" cards was 1.5% or about 60K out of 1.3 million, spread out across 70 metro areas. That's fewer than 1K per county, which is a rate lower than applications gathered by state DMV's.

However, I suspect you aren't interested in the facts, but rather in scoring ideological points, so not matter what kinds of facts I put down here are going to be ignored.

HoaxM3Not: "I hope you guys have some good psychologists because you're all going to go insane when McCain wins."

Or maybe not.

I'm sorry, but as an Obama supporter, that was really unprofessional.

Sad sad sad that our tax money goes to finance crap like this when it could be used for socialist programs like spreading the wealth...

No taxpayer money is used for ACORN's voter engagement work, so it is unclear what you mean when you say "crap like this", though I'm sure such fine points of fact are really tangential to this entire comment thread, which is more about venting one's point of view than discussing what actually happened.

WHAT? Why are congressmen calling for investigatin and suspension of taxpayer money to acorn and the AHC? MILLIONS are wasted in taxpayer money on these biased groups- money that could be used for something worthwhile...

It is pointless to argue facts here because everyone has an ideological bias in favor of their position. I only respond to make sure the facts actually get put out in public.

Fact: AHC has NOTHING to do with ANY electoral participation work. NONE. Period, end of story.

Fact: ACORN uses no tax payer money for ANY electoral work. Period.

Fact: ACORN only gets sub-contracts on competitive grants for things like lead paint abatement and helping foreclosure victicm stay in their homes.
