Sounds like some lawyers from Chicago are looking into the case again. I wish they luck.

Really he was banned not because they think he threw the series, but because he knew about it and didn't say anything? But no one who values his life would have said anything.

Roger Maris had three good seasons in his entire career. Hardly Hall of Fame material

And that's only scratching the surface. Here is more evidence that casts significant doubt over Shoeless Joe's alleged involvement in the scandal (and it will take me a few comments to list them).

Shoeless Joe initially refused the $5,000 payment for his participation, only to have Lefty Williams (whose guilt was not in doubt) throw the money on the floor of his hotel room.

Shoeless Joe's grand jury testimony was coached in a manner that would result in disbarment and jail time by today's standards. His lawyer got him to confess by pouring whiskey down his throat and made him sign a letter of immunity. Shoeless Joe was illiterate, and thus, was easy to take advantage of.

The others involved in the fix admitted that Jackson was never at any of the meetings. Lefty Williams even went as far as saying that they used his name to "give their plot more credibility".

And perhaps most significant of all, Shoeless Joe attempted to notify White Sox owner Charles Comiskey about the fix, but Comiskey refused to even meet with him.

I won't go as far as saying that Shoeless Joe Jackson is innocent, but the evidence contradicting his alleged role in the Black Sox Scandal is too significant to ignore.

I agree with you 100% I believe that Jackson was taken advantage of because of his lack of education and not wanting to fall out of favor with his teammates. unfortunately along with Buck Weaver the ruling from Mountain Landis was basically anyone who was involved or knew of it and didnt report it is banned for life. although this condition shouldve applied to Charles Comiskey since he also knew about the fix before the Series started and didnt report it as well
