i tried to hold back the tears since i started this movie from the very beginning but i just couldn't hold it back any longer when Jack yelled at Nathan for putting the lights around his mother's bed. i watched this movie every single year and yet i always cry from beginning to end. they are people like Maggie dying cuz people just lost their heart now in this world. they don't remember what's it like having a caring heart. the same with the meaning of christmas. they just don't care anymore

is just amazing and so touching seing this kid trying so hard to get his own money to buy a special gift to his mom! i've been crying since the movie start OMG!

Was $20 really expensive in the 80's or something? (IMDB: this movie takes place in 1985) or is the boy's family just really scraping for cash?

He's a little kid! He can't pull $20 from nowhere! His dad won't give him money because he thinks he's saving for a puppy with it.
