By Lindsey Hilsum:

"Protests led by Buddhist monks enter their third day, in the biggest show of defiance in Tibet for more than 20 years.

Cars and shops have been set ablaze in the Tibetan capital Lhasa amid demands for independence from China.

Reports say Chinese police have fired on protestors, leaving at least two people dead.

One witness said around 400 demonstrators had been confronted by a thousand riot police as they threw rocks and set fire to cars and buses.

The Dalai Lama has denied Chinese allegations that he had masterminded the unrest."

  • In December 2009, Tibetan monks of Jophu monastery and local Tibetan civilians protested the Chinese government's forced encroachment of the monastery's land. The Chinese police (Public Security Bureau) arrested Tulku Jangchub in December 2009 and Pesang in January 2010.

The two have been held at the Jomda County detention centre since their arrest. Tulku Jangchub is aged around 25 and Pesang's age is not known.

  • Chinese security forces were attempting to remove some of the 2,000 monks who live at the monastery.

The situation at the influential monastery has deteriorated since the March 16 death of a monk who committed suicide on the third anniversary of anti-government unrest in the area.

Clashes erupted between security forces and locals at the monastery in southwestern China after a monk set himself on fire and died last month,

Resentment against Chinese rule runs deep in Tibet.

  • All the "-s***-eater" names are TheSalmonFan a.k.a. tyoungos. He made the mistake of using the phrases "s***eater" too many times during his tyoungos posts.

This means tyoungos is a 35+ year old man living in New York, working for the Chinese and Pakistani governments against American interests while living on American soil, and working against human rights while enjoying endless special privileges himself.
