I Just heard this for the first time the 3 days ago and began scavenging for all other performances. I have to say that as someone who does not play an instrument that this is beautiful. Whats truly amazing to me about this youtibe thing is that everyone seems to find that argumentative side of themselves in evry single matter, from the minute to the important. thiis site has just become a forum for random arguments with shite punctuations to emote those feelings

I have heard this piece, literally, hundreds of times and have seen it performed in NY several times over the years. This is as nice a performance as I have seen or heard. Live performance, in any genre, opens the door for small differences or even possible miscues. I hear very few here.

There's no need to defend anything. I have also heard many performances, and as a trained orchestrator and composer I hear things that others don't. That is my job. But nowhere have I said that this was a bad performance. Tell me where I've said that, Mike.

I never said that you said anything about a 'bad' performance. Tell me where I've said that...... ; ) But you seem to indicate that you hear flaws in the performance. There is nothing here that would indicate 'obvious' problems. That is why I write that live performance introduces such possibilities.

Exactly my point - and I didn't use the word 'obvious.' However, imagine that you are a hot-blooded young composer who wants to write and enormous score with a 100+ piece orchestra. You are convinced by listening to carefully rehearsed recordings that your mega-piece will be easily and flawlessly executed in concert. My job as an orchestration tutor is to point out that there are inherent difficulties. That's what I'm doing here. But for the third time, this was a great effort.

whoever said this was merely a great effort needs to get the fucking wax outa their ears.
