How did Taiwan's people elect Ma Ying-jeou in the first place? It was clear to ANYONE who rationally observed his actions that he would take Taiwan in this direction. As I saw it, people in Taiwan cared more about the hopes of economic prosperity (which they believed closer ties with China would bring) than about their own freedom or dignity. Are they waking up at the 11th hour? Let's hope that it's not too late.
