I think the anime was pretty good. The ending was a bit sloppy, but I could deal with it. And I'm not sure why, but I really liked the way that Akiyuki died. It wasn't like in most anime, where the main character dies, and everyone in the world seems to be watching and it seems so planned out, like some kind of holiday.
