maybe maybe not the Royal Navy was still the most powerful at that time they would of have to face the Queen Elizabeth class Battleships
Malaya(the least-modernized of the class,) prevented an attack on a transatlantic convoy by the modern .German battlecruisers Scharnhorst and Gneisenau simply by being present although would not have been able to face a well-handled modern battleship such as the Bismarck in a one-to-one encounter with a high probability of success.part 1( part 2 to come )

Queen Elizabeth, Warspite, and Valiant, the more modernized of the class, would likely have fared better against an opponent like Bismarck .With her modern fire control equipment, Warspite scored a hit on an Italian battleship at a range of more than 26,000 yards, one of the longest range naval artillery hits in history. However modern torpedoes outclassed their torpedo belt protection Barham admittedly the least modernized of the quintet was torpedoed by a U Boat and sank .

The bismarck sank the "Hood" with 5 salvos in under 8 minutes. it took the hole british fleet to take out the bismarck and still it was just luck, becuse of a british torpedo plane hit the roter of the bismarck making it unable to moveg(turn), it took over 400 hits before sinking....

The Bismark hit on the Hood was pure luck as shown in a new program a few seconds later and hoods thickest armour would of took the hit. watch Battle of the Hood and Bismark.
