Ihhh......

Realistic racers are fun for some people, I guess.
I'm hoping that SuperTuxKart gets a decent port.
In fact, I should probably try to help them out. ... It's really not a good game at all right now.

there's really no reason not to make a decent racing sim (screw arcade racers) on the pandora

the sgx can do a modest racetrack + cars nicely, some shader effects to jazz it up, and make a loader that can import the bajillions of rFactor tracks and cars.

A racing sim is the kind of game that can begin modestly and already be fun in the 0.2 version. great for a community project.

Yes, since this is an ARM processor, source code will be a significant problem for games. HL1 runs great under Wine, but unless Valve decides to re-compile it for the Pandora or release a lot of stuff as free, it's not going to be on here.

I dunno about Doom 3, that mostly depends on the graphics processor and whether id cares enough to port it.

so, quake 3 arena could be ported to the pandora, because it's open source?

Yes, id Software realease most of their engines for free after a certain time, so the Doom 3 engine should follow up as free some time in the future as well.
Quake 2 and quake 3 already there.

probably, you'd just need to get some developers working on it.

I don't think id releases the actual levels as open, though, since they're like artwork. I dunno.

Nexuiz will prolly be on it :D

I was kinda hoping for Sauerbraten to be ported, but I'm not sure if it has the power for it. I guess we'll have to see.

The developers said that, and it was discussed in the forums. Look at the TMS320C64 CPU: It has 4800 Mips at 600MHZ. Thats much more than an Athlon has at 1.2 GHZ!
Doom 3 does not run on the Pandora now because the source is closed and there is no emulator yet, but it will do...
