This version is vastly superior to the Hall & Oates debacle which actually attempted to change the ending of the song by adding their own idiotic lyric (he went back but she was gone). It's like pasting arms onto the Venus de Milo.
This is the original version isnt it, I once had a long argument with someone trying to clam Hall and Oates wrote it., the Hall and Oates version came out after this .
An interesting approach for Oldfield, being a contemporary female vocaled pop song - but with experimentation within, particularly with the drip-drop guitar effects, and the oompah like sound of the bass.
After hearing both this and Hall and Oates version, while Hall has a strong voice, their version by contrast seems to be slickly produced...
When it gets to 100 comments, someone needs to count up all the people who preferred the Hall/Oates version or the Olfield version. I, by the way, prefer the Hall/Oates version.
