I had a lot of time for Clinton and I think by far he was the best US president. Yeltsin did put Russia on the right course even if he was a little drunk at times but a lovely guy.

That's not what Clinton is saying. He said: "Be sure you get the right attribution there." [That is, he wants to make sure that the journalists quote the right person and don't attribute the comment to him.] And hopefully that's what the interpreter translated into russian.
