One of my favorites on the CD, and my favorite video. At the release, I too was tired of America and I'm not a member of the LGBT Community. I was sick of the Republican party - and of religion being used to ignore or hate others. I was raised devoutly Christian, but my views always were that Jesus is love and that I should never use my faith to hate. So, if I grew sick of America - I can see how ANYONE else would also.

Agree. The anger was directed at America's behavior in general during the Bush years, not just toward LGBT community. America was irresponsible (it "took advantage of a world that loved [it] well"). It killed while proclaiming itself a christian nation ("soaking the body of Jesus Christ in blood"). And all the while acted so damn sure what it was doing was right. So he's leaving America for a place that has "already been disgraced" by its government, i.e., Berlin.

Are you kidding?? This song is about How he's Sick of American being an Intolerant Ass to those of us in the LGBT Community. The Thing about "Soaking the Body of Jesus Christ in Blood" is basically telling the church to accept us, because Jesus does. At least that is what I interpret it to me for me. Rufus is Wicked Brilliant! This video is wicked amazing as is the song!

I wish people would not get so caught up in what musicians have done in the past and try to diversify by appreciating the multi-fasceted perspective they have. Expand your minds if you are so stuck on past accomplishments. The guy is fantastic. This is his natural evolution.
