I totally agree with the2ndsaint -- I have Emersons, Benchmades, other MBC Spyderco knives...this thing is just the best thought-out self-defense folder out there.

spyderco civilian for a better/more aggresive blade

CS ti-lite 6incher for much much more reach

CS safekeeper 1 ==>you dont need any training and it does a lot more damage.

The P'Kal *does* use a bearing, it's much smaller than the one in the original ball lock though.

Good to know! I thought san mai was only a cold steel product, cs seems to only use vg-1 in their san mai.

they used to use AUS8A even
VG1 is a decent steel according to the steel manufacturer that produce the whole VG series
