I agree. In south-germany because of Napoleon they use some words with french roots. Andalusia in south of spain is called so because of the (V)andals.
Alemania or Allmagne for Germany is more correctly, because German means all tribes: Alemans, Angles, Friesians, Teutons, Franks..... The correct name for Germany would Teutonia oder Alemania, as the Franks give France the name, and the Angles give England her name. The german language in italy is called: Tedesco (Teutonian).

Yes, of course you are right! I only used French (and English) as an example. I should have mentioned the other "Germanic languages", too. Sorry, I just wanted to point out that Dutch is a language on its own.^^
