The World Strongest Man competition 1992 in Iceland. It was a great battle and probably the tightest competition for the World Strongest Man. Magnús Ver Magnússon won in 1991 and was the favourite in his homeland. Jón Páll Sigmarsson is an expert for the television this year, but he died in January 1993.
Here you can see the final event, the Húsafell stone and the award ceremony.
About the event:
The competitors have to carry the Húsafell stone as long as they can. The Húsafell stone is 186 kg. In Iceland they say if you can carry the Húsafell stone for 12 meters, you are too strong!
Competitors:
Ted Van Der Parre (Netherlands), Magnús Ver Magnússon (Iceland), Jamie Reeves (Britian), Gerrit Badenhorst (South Africa), Gary Taylor (Britain), Henning Thorsen (Denmark), Gregg Ernst (Canada), Ilkka Nummisto (Finland), James Perry (USA) and Ilkka Kinnunen (Finland)
Just like to add that Ilkka Nummisto is 48 years old in this competition!

it's seem that you are a "very intalligent" person....
they didn't compete for the toy truck.
they compete for the honor "the world's strongest man." the truck is just an object but the honor is divine.
any real sports man ain't going to a competition for the trophy. he's going there for the win.

I used to be a house mover for a few years and found that if you hold the weight above your waist it becomes a lot easier to carry. I'm only a small guy but with that technique i could carry a Fridge by myself comfortably. You can try it for yourself, grab something heavy, hold and carry it above your waist. You'll find its much easier than letting it sit in your arms.

Its hard to see in this video how truly huge Ted Van Der Parre is. He does not look as bulky as the shorter guys, because Ted is 7 feet tall!
