    It depends.

Benedikt Magnusson break the world record in dead lift. 460Kg.

Kazmaier did 302,5 kg in bench press, but Scott Meldelson did 324kg. That is the world record. Brent Mikesell did 517,5 kg in squat. A world record.

    I have visited Jon-Palls grave.

There is no way anyone has been stronger before cameras etc. Techniques, proteins etc have evolved as humans have. Just like the 100m sprint record gets better and better, but slowly.

lifting weights are one dimensional form of strength training.incorporating a few muscles that are exercised over and over. bending bars with there hands, lifting logs. muscles that are not ordinarily used in gyms are being incorporated, like the wrist and hand, foot muscles, strength in motion and the hearts fitness to sustain it. think about it, do you think gym rats or even powerlifters would pull trucks.

I highly doubt he's the strongest man who ever lived. Maybe recorded and filmed, but not the strongest ever.

so you would say that lifting a BAR with equal weight on each side is the same as lifting a car, log, or barrels?

Think about it dude... it aint the same.
