Native, you are welcome to your opinion, but keep in mind that Camilla was sleeping with a married man (who she later married) so before bashing one woman and proclaiming that the other is perfection incarnate look at things from a distance. Guess what, both Diana and Camilla are human. Since I have never met either one in person I really can't develop a real opinion. Judging a person based on everything you read and watch is flawed because another person or people select what you see.

Amy, the Queen Mother was a consort. It was her husband that was in the line of succession. Queen Elizabeth is born to the throne. No Monarch gives up their throne willingly to their child.  Besides Charles is nothing compared to his mother and his behavior, often foolhardy. I hope the Queen outlasts him.. I like William and Harry. It will be interesting to see what the future brings.

You may find it interesting that I am a 10th cousin (distant but cool) to Diana's father (the late Earl) through Elizabeth Montague. Her husband, Sir GiIbert Pickering, Baronet of Nova Scotia, was Lord Chamberlain to Oliver Cromwell. He was pardoned and allowed to come to America with only what he could carry. His descendants include multiple U.S. presidents and many other notables. No matter where the British go, they thrive and prevail. Perseverance and determination is in the genes. lol

Thanks for clarifying. But my point was that she was born in the line of succession and was not just a consort. A good many kings were not first in line to the throne when they were born.  John Lackland comes to mind. Henry VIII, Elizabeth I, James II, on and on. But they were born to the throne though succession. You probably agree with George Bernard Shaw that Americans and the British are "two nations separated by a common language." lol God bless the Queen and your free country.
