    Yes you are very correct in that statement. Clever computers like my Samsung automatcally judge the capacity, they call it 'smart battery/charge option' this is found in the bios set-up, [hit F2 on boot-up]

    my battery lasts for 3 hours and it swiches off at 35% ish and charges up to 80%.

    One should mention that charging a Li-ion battery all t he way up is also not good for its capacity, same as letting it run out completely. However, I doubt that constant plugging-unplugging to keep the charge level in the range of 40-60% is a pleasant practice.

    discharging li-ion batteries to the 0% mark will kill that battery much quicker in the long term. li-ion Batteries like to be discharged to about 40% before recharging them, or try to keep they contantly charged. only use the battery when you need to, like in an emergency or on rare occasions.
