This is the unaired pilot episode of Rugrats that Klasky/Csupo showed to Nick in early 1990. The voice actress (Tami Holbrook) for Tommy is different than in the main series (Elizabeth Daily). Parts of it were used as bumpers throughout the Golden Age of Nickelodeon and a few scenes were partly reused, however it was never aired in its full state as presented in this video.

This video falls under Fair Use 17 U.S.C. § 107 for educational purposes.

17 U.S.C. § 107

Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 17 U.S.C. § 106 and 17 U.S.C. § 106A, the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright. In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include: the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes; the nature of the copyrighted work; the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.

The fact that a work is unpublished shall not itself bar a finding of fair use if such finding is made upon consideration of all the above factors.

I seriously remember this particular episode as a kid.... I remember seeing it in the early 90's. This has been aired. Maybe by accident, but it was aired before in the early 90's.

I actually think the animation is great. It's so fluid, and it has a cool abstract quality to it.

Could've sworn Chuckie was added in the remake as well!

Yeah, this episode was re-released and Tommy's voice was voiced-over from his early "beta" voice from an audition voice actor or whatever! I actually remember seeing both versions of this episode on VHS and DVD, yet this version of the pilot didn't actually air!

When I saw the Nickelodeon haypile logo, I thought it was scribble scrabbles.

It wasn't banned, it just wasn't aired on television. There are several shows that do this to do things like compare actors if they are undecided, do a test veiw to see how reactions, ect.
