so I am mormon and I am AGAINST prop 8 what you are saying is completely wrong. their purpose is to protect what they think should be marriage to everyone but they never preached any hate at all.
I did not see in the video people saying "hate gays!!" or "let's take action against those gay couples". I am just trying to be fair here.

Yes, they didn't say hate, but they sure didn't say love. They are taking action against gay couples though. Mormons went crazy over this because they were told to. Most of my family are members. I know a lot of people in the church and know they would never be that into something like that unless they were told to. I was raised in the church but will never go back. I think they did more harm then good for me. I got mad because people who were once on my side are now against me.

please understand those that are for prop8: their purpose is to protect marriage and they are driven mostly by fear of the unknown which comes as a result of ignorance. I am sad in hearing you left the church for that but please understand them and know that the Church is of Christ and no one else's. I have been offended many times but the truthfulness of the church or my testimony of it is NOT based on people's actions but on the Holy Ghost. I invite you to reconsider your position,, please!!!

Yes, it is out of fear of the unknown. You have a good point about believing by the holy ghost and not by others actions. I don't believe being gay makes you a bad person. I just know the church wont treat me the same. My testimony has gone down the toilet. I came very close to going on a mission but didn't. I just don't see my self going back since I know how they view homosexuals. I still hear about the church, since my dads a bishop and my moms in primary. I don't think I could go back

I am a bit confused about the perceived definition of marriage within the religious community; those who state that marriage is a sacred religious bond between a man and a woman. If those that are so firm on this definition believe it to be a sacred RELIGIOUS bond, than why is there not an equally disapproving uproar over atheists being married as there is for gays?
