It really is a crime that Koreans are protesting a nonissue while their brothers and sisters are tortured and millions dying of starvation in North Korea, just 30 miles north of Seoul.

You do have a point, especially regarding traffic laws and disorderly conduct; however, you have to remember that Korea is still a developing nation, but one that generally tends to advance more quickly than others. Things are changing here. Slowly but surely. Give it time.

All this talk about violence in the protests is interesting. There have been protests daily for weeks now and the violence that has occured has been minimal.

It is also interesting to point out that the protests against the Grand Canal (of which I was a part) were never met with violence, not one incident. And it looks as if we've won that fight - Lee Myung-bak has chosen to give the people of Korea the final decision on whether the Canal will be built or not.
