I think its true talent when you can take a song and make it all your own...Yes Cash's "Hurt" is devastatingly beautiful. but this is beautiful as well.. Live jazzy instrumentation, soulful singing...heams of talent.. Some people prefer to stay listening to only a certain type of music/genre...I can appreciatte all music..once again u have ur opinion..but my opinion is that this was FOOT STOMPING GREAT.. GO MAXWELL!

You know something? It's true what you say, but I think what I find offensive about this isn't that it's a cover. And the music itself isn't bad either. I love R&B and even some gospel. Great music doesn't have a genre.

I think what so offends me is a) it feels like he couldn't do a full cover, so why do one at all? and b) I find it offensive that the song went from being about wanting revenge through sex to being a love letter to God.

If ya love Jesus so much, write Him an original.
