Apparently the Allies did not know the depraved extent of what was being done to the Jews unitl the death camps were liberated in the closing weeks of the War. They suspected, but as for inaction, I don't think so. The Nazi Germans were very tough fighters being led by a psychopath (Hitler) whos tactical stupidities ultimately betrayed their fighting prowess. I am not a Nazi, but it has to be noted how tough those guys were. The Allies also fought hard and were very lucky to win that war.
