Great cover... even the Boss is far to be a "perfect crooner". I ever like the "Maynard alternate lyrics" with short allusions to his real own life ("Stan Kenton made me a star")... and the funny words about, here, Bo Dereck (on the recorded version I have on cd, the "sex symbol" in the song is not Bo Dereck... but the more x-rated Linda Lovelace).
