load of bollocks. who the fuck are 'they'? they are actually 'us' we as a people shape the world we live in, there is no 'they', the people that pull the strings do so through our democratic process the real enemy is the apathetic many of which will listen to this song and say 'right on'...and then do nothing not even vote.

The power of the words are meant to mobilze the working class against oppressive governements and their institutions of working class supression--the church--the media--bourgeios education and strike fear into governments. The lyrics of imagine are specific in what he considers the neccesary measures needed to be taken.
