Human Powered Flight

Why don't they add a balloon to the machine that counteracts your weight? That way you don't have to work so hard just to keep yourself in the air.

remember this is just early days and nobody has really done masses of research on human powered flight. Also bear in mind that governments have never been fond of free methods of transport which eliminate their power and authority. when sombody develops a human powered helicopter that is efficient as riding a bicycle some scummy polotician will most likey try and make it illegal to aid oil companies profit

i completley agree the government will make anything free illegal soon we will all die from polution in the air its already started in China at 50,000 deaths a year from polutiion

I have some questions about flying:

(1) why do we love flying?

(2 ) what is the feeling of success if we fly by our own power?

(3) How does a human powered aeroplane feel different from a engine jet?

1) We escape all our troubles, you have to personally fly an aircraft to experience it though.

2)Mans dream is to fly like a bird, they use their own power, it just feels more like we are unaided.

3)Human powered is slower, quiter and cheaper and the excersie realeses endorphins that make people enjoy themselves more.

For me, the main reason would be to re-live my childhood dreams. I could often fly in my dreams just by flapping my arms!

I know a lot of people have dreams about flying when they're kids (and some as adults); maybe that's one thing that puts the thought in our heads and gives us a feeling of how good it would be?
