. i do wonder about the local sewerage system and their human waste disposal system - how these are kept separate from the lake water. they seem to be doing well on this however. the water looks clear and pristine. are the home below the level of lake biwa - for the water to flow thru them and among them or is the water piped to a higher level and allowed to drain down alongside each home? is the water for home use treated and separate from the canal water?

It really is beautiful. My hometown is far more industrialized than the village in the clip, but it still has a rich natural environment. I'm sure the US also has countless beautiful places like this.
BTW, I saw your profile, and are you from La Mesa, CA? I'm wondering cuz I spent 9 years in San Diego and just came back to Japan from there in August.
