The cauldron is full of gasoline or something else flammable. He doesn't need to hit it in. He probably shouldn't land the flying arrow inside a tank of gasoline any ways!

My father won 2 gold medals there :) it's very moving to watch movies from Barcelona Olympics... Magical.
