Maynard Ferguson Give It One

This was from about 1977. The best trumpet section, IMHO, MF had: Joe Mosello, Stan Mark, Dennis Noday, and Ron Tooley. Dig Peter Erskine on drums..dynamite.

I think Maynard's best trumpet section was the one a few years ealier with Lynn Nicholson, Don Hahn & Stan Mark. This one was also quite good. Nicholson was a monster.

This song was used as Wheel of Fortune's pilot theme back in 1974 with Ed Byrnes and Susan Stafford.

I saw that same band twice live...And it was that great, twice....Amazing players,
A great band leader who was not afraid to leave some space for his band.. He was such a great showman and player....We miss him

Peter Erskine was and still his a great drummer....He has so much energy on that video, reminded me of the show I saw....Thank for posting it....Great souvenirs

They're great technical players, but I couldn't stand any of the sax or flute solos. Totally disconnected from the songs and sometimes fast and hard-edged is more boring than slow and melodious.

True, but nonetheless priceless to bring back the memories, the melodies, the harmonies and the sights.
