Yes. He was played in this film by "Watson" introduced in 0:10. Porritt was so modest that he did not want to be mentioned by name in the film. He was later a famous surgeon, the Queen's Surgeon, and was a Brigadier General in the war.

He recognized that they were just men fighting for their country too, and they were also fighting bravely. He was always against war. Unfortunately, his only brother died in the war on my father's next birthday after he was wounded.
