is this game better than Psyvariar 2?

I think Psyvariar 2 is better. Both are tricky

More unlockables doesn't prove a game is better.
What matters is it's overall quality. Chaos Field is great. It's one of the greatest top shooters ever, and my personal favorite. And yeah, Chaos Field can be pretty tough, but thankfully they give you a lot of options for difficulty as opposed to a rather linear "easy, normal, hard" thus it's very versatile to fit a players abilities. Despite it's intense garner, it is a managable game.

This game pales in comparision to legendary vertical shumps like DoDonPachi, Mushihime, or Imperishable Nights.

You're going off that Gamefaqs list, aren't you? Perfect Chery Blossom is much better than Imperishable Night.

I personally like Imperishable Night a lot more.
