En 1822 el polaco Adam Mickiewicz publicó una serie de poemas con el título de Baladas y Romances. Esta obra llegó a las manos de Chopin, quien escribiría en 1836 una pieza para piano solo titulada Balada sin palabras. Después de esta primera balada, Chopin compuso otras tres. Hasta mediados del siglo XX se pensaba que las piezas de Chopin estaban basadas en otras tantas baladas de Mickiewicz.

awesome. the only similar good recording i have heard is in my opinion from ashkenazy from the 60s, which is more spontaneous than his (Ashkenazys)80s recording.

The pushing back of his chair is most probably because of the energy used at 3.00. Its not like he's too flamboyant or something... (I've read plenty of the earlier negative comments)
And by the way, Zimmerman is a highly respected pianist in the world..

This is the best playing I have ever heard, better than the old school greats, including Rubinstein, Horowitz, etc. How old is this clip (I think Herr Zimmerman is in his mid fifties now); I'm thinking sometime in the late 70's?
