I've always loved Fats since I heard him in the 50s as a teenager. When I was in school in New Orleans [N'awlins 1962-1965], I worked in the evenings and weekends at a freight company. On two occasions when our crew unloaded ships at the terminal on the waterfront, Fats was a few trucks down from us. He drove a truck and had his own. I enjoyed meeting him personally. He was a really talented and sweet man.

Roy Montrell was fucking great ! That Mellow Saxophone is classic N'awlins rythm and blues at its best - anyone into Fats should read the new biog about him (name escapes me), theres a passage where he talks about this gig, never seen it before, thanks for posting !
