Judy Garland / Deanna Durbin - Every Sunday 1936

They both had talent. Why must everyone try to compare? Judy was more Pop style, Deanna of course more Operetta. That doesnt mean one is better than the other.

You are obviously psychotic, as evidenced by your unreasoning,obsessive hatred for Deanna Durbin,a woman who probably never did you a bit of harm. If Judy Garland was still alive, she'd probably have a restraining order on you-you sound like one of those "true fans", like in
the movie "Obsession". Go see a shrink.

This was a great show piece for two talents.

Lots of red herrings in everyone's logic or lack thereof. Both Judy and Deanna have merit. There's plenty of room for both. There isn't a comparison between them. Each had their own sound and contribution.

Deanna was old school. Judy was the new sound. It's that simple. Deanna was classically trained and Judy was a Hollywood torch song singer/ showbiz chanteuse. It's no contest. See how in this clip JG starts out with the straight waltz and then swings it in an odd time signature? That illustrates the difference between them. In Hollywood someone has to play the soubrette roles. Deanna Durbin was still a real artist.
