Nope, they're not that either. There is no official story line and there's like 500 different song writers and musician out there that all make Vocaloid songs and each one of them has their own interpretation.
Seriously this twins vs mirror thing got old the day it started, I mean if we're going to discount their appearances in songs and get to what they "truly" are then it's this: they're a piece of software manufactured by Crypton Future Media.
Not twins, not mirror images, just Vocaloid.
