Although one commenter says that his looks got better as he aged, you should know that as a teen-ish idol, Kayama-san was basically the 1965 Japanese equivalent of Zac Efron. Except Kayama was also a wicked guitarist who wrote many of his own songs. And a very good actor, as seen in the Kurosawa film "Red Beard," playing opposite Toshiro Mifune.

His looks got a lot better as he aged....not many people do.
