A genius we need to discover again. His fantastic work should be much more often played. Pure Russian Soul I think is the best way to translate his music.

Miaskovsky: amongst all those symphonies there are some real gems. Try the 27th to hear a truly beautiful slow movement.
This snippet of video shows him to be looking very tired. Probably in the last years of his life hounded by Stalin...
