To me, the greatest mystery surrounding this video is why this animation style didn't become the Hot New Thing and generate a trend... but no one followed up on it. Pity, because I would have loved seeing it catch on.

There was a British Cartoon series that was premiered at GenCon in (1995?). It used animation very similar to this. The stunned silence at the end of the premire spoke volumes. The style worked for the video, but for a full 30 minute cartoon it didn't at all. They released the cartoon the following year with standard animation.
