im a beck fan but no one can argue with sunshine of your love....probably the best riff ever written...still beck is the guitar master....clapton has his days were he rips
Hmm sunshine of your love's riff is not Eric's work, is Jack Bruce's. On the other hand most of Eric's great compositions such as Layla, are actually what they are because of others, in Layla's case, Duane Allman. Then Crossroads, which is his best display of hability, is originally Robert Johnson's, so Eric's hability is mainly jammin and make important arrengements. Not sayin' he's not great and one of the greatest, just that Beck is greater in tecnique and hability.
I don't think I was stating with clarity in my comment..I was pretty burnt...what I meant was that I definitely take Beck over Clapton...but I do love the riff in SOYL...pretty familiar with all the other history you stated too..and I was just tryin' to cut Clapton a little slack..just my own thing but I've been too critical on the guy lately..and really Beck is just one of the great masters is what I should have said..I love all kinds of styles & playin'..thnx for the reply though....laters
