ずいぶんショボイ放水銃だなぁと思っていたら、作業用のホースじ ゃないかよ。

There is not. In the biological world we inhabit, a species must consume something to live. And to live, we must take a life from something. That something can be anything---animals or vegetables, insects etc. The life span issue is not relevant.
You are making an exception based on subjective view of a whale's lifespan.
It is okay to eat anything as long as it is sustainable. And if a species' characteristics naturally drive it into extinction, so be it.
