James Kalm convinces Mark Stilwell to give viewers a personal guided tour of his latest sculptural installation at this cutting-edge Williamsburg Gallery. "Super Defense Force" is a gallery filling conglomeration of the artist's fantasy city structures, fashioned from painted cardboard, scrap lumber, foam-core, recycled plastic containers and what ever else was at hand. Huge robotic monsters battle over this Lilliputian city, based on actual buildings and structures from Coney Island, a war between good and evil is waged in miniature. Featuring an extended interview and tour by Mark Stilwell.

I remember Mark going to my house in Pasadena and drawing all sorts of stuff for me. Glad you're doing what you were always destined to do! Great work brother!

A fantastic installation, to be sure. The apocalyptic forces all around us may be real or imagined, but one preoccupation that our culture seems to have right now is with garbage and recycling and such. Seems to me that Mr. Stilwell's sculpture touches on the urgent messages, fears and divisiveness that are often attached to that issue. Also, however you might feel about the military, I do hope they're around to save us if we ever get attacked by giant spider creatures.

very cool, I much more enjoy seeing this type of anti-high culture than the super art robots we see in the mausoleums, oops, I meant to say museums
