The video you're thinking of is the video that was touted as the "official" video and repeatedly played on MTV (especially on "120 Minutes") back when it came out. I'm not sure where this version came from...
i'm actually only watching this because i heard someone say davey havok's craft was an impersonation of marc almond, and watching this and listening to his vocal style, it's a really interesting comparison. juxtaposing the two (especially afi's new video "medicate") is pretty hilarious in some ways though! from the hair, to the big right hand ring, to the physical energy vs. vocal calm (if that makes any sense)
I am finding a lot of 80's songs with important messages. This is one of them. I remember listening to these songs when I was in my teens, but never understood what the words meant. The 80's was a time of glam and materialism, yet the music that emerged had a lot of depth. "Stand or fall, Driven out, "by the fixx, "Love my way", by the psych. furs, "Open your eyes", by lords of the new church, are just a few.
