Well yeah, but I mean, those were the biggest four, I don't forget the other ones though (Mother Love Bone and Green River, I prefer them to Mudhoney). PJ is evolving, and the good thing is, they are without selling themselves out. AIC hasn't really evolved but Black Gives Way to Blue was brilliant, even without Layne. But yes, I can highly agree with you on Chris Cornell. Listen to badmotorfinger then Superunknown. Or Audioslave then Out of Exile. Or Carry On and then....Scream. Eeecchh.

grunge is that attitude of music. not the sound. yes AIC is musically, vocally superior to all other grunge bands but they are grunge none the less.

I think of those three (and there were quite a bit more you didn't mention, how about Mother Love Bone prior to PJ and Mudhoney to name just two), SoundGarden was probably the biggest sell outs. They already sold out by the time Wood OD'd and Pearl Jam formed from Ament and Gossard (after a quick Temple of the Dog tribute band). Pearl Jam continues to this day to make quality music that is not mainstream sold out - cant say the same for Chris Cornell. He was and always will be a sell out.
