@ How It Writes:

Unlike yourself or Mr. Supertramp, I am in my right mind. He knew there was a town because 30 miles away because that is where he came from. He knew exactly where he was and he could have saved himself. that is my point. People make it sound like he did some heroic thing, when in reality he did a very un-heroic thing. He is a guy who lost his mind and went into the woods to die.........that is what who he was, and that is how he died.

It was not just "the wrong berry" it was mold that had grown on potato seeds that anyone would've deemed safe, they gave him swainsonine poisoning. And he was far from crazy, anyone he met on his journies would tell you that. Don't get into anything you don't know shit about, you prick.

@ ShadowCheif114....you are a fool!

He was only 28 miles from town and regardless of if the river was raised, that would not stop him from walking down that side of the river into town and then crossing the river there. That is the fact! He chose to stay and die in that bus....that means he was a fool

Are you serious? The river did not lead to town. And even if it had, McCandless would have jumped at the opportunity to leave. But crossing the river would've been a bad choice, he more than likely would've been swept away by the current. He also had a fear of water and swimming, so that contributed to his decision. And anyone that can make it in the Alaskan wildernesss for over 100 days is not a fool, he knew what the hell he was doing. The only fool here is you.
